Today, The New York Times reported that Hillary Clinton is set to appear on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live this weekend. The presidential candidate has certainly been keeping busy: She made a stop on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, danced with Ellen DeGeneres, and had a sit-down with Lena Dunham for Dunham’s inaugural Lenny newsletter. Although Clinton’s camp has yet to confirm her “surprise” cameo, the Times reports that she will show up during the opening skit alongside Kate McKinnon, SNL’s current Clinton impersonator.
Of course, Clinton has been imitated by many SNL veterans throughout her political career, including the late Jan Hooks, Ana Gasteyer, and, most notably, Amy Poehler. The Parks and Recreation star played a clueless Clinton alongside Tina Fey, who delighted viewers with her flawless Sarah Palin impression. A fan of Poehler’s imitation, Clinton made a surprise SNL appearance during her first presidential run in 2008, during which Clinton asked Poehler, “Do I really laugh like that?” Take a look at the clip below.
