Blake Mills released a new album yesterday, Heigh Ho, that’s already inspiring some pretty bold proclamations about its artistic merit, with no less than Eric Clapton calling Mills “the last guitarist I heard that I thought was phenomenal.”

Mills reminds us that sometimes the biggest musical punches come in the least adorned packages: His world is mostly just him and a guitar, plus the kind of idiosyncratic songwriting that makes “Don’t Tell Our Friends About Me” so unique. On the new album, the track features frequent collaborator Fiona Apple, but here, he gives Vogue.com an exclusive look at a stripped-down rehearsal.
