There was much to admire at Central Saint Martins graduate Phoebe English’s presentation in London this afternoon, from the collection’s artful weaving to its unfinished hems—but we have to admit: our attention kept floating back to the spinelike crystal headpieces the models wore fastened to their low braided buns. Created by Bumble and bumble hairstylist Tina Outen, they ran down the center of each girl’s part and were affixed with pieces of English’s favorite exposed white thread—a detail the designer also used in her chunky collaged knits and delicately strung together necklines. The hair adornments, which echoed the set’s spectral glass installation, were paired with a brushing of iridescent glitter. Just the kind of Fashion Week fairy dust that characterizes the London shows at their best.
