It was back in 2007 that actor Emile Hirsch first came to our attention. Since then he’s cemented himself as part of a generation of performer’s who is constantly working in high-profile projects but maintains a low-key, nonchalant persona. So, when we heard that New York-based label Rag & Bone tapped him to star in their spring/summer 2014 campaign, it made perfect sense. The brand—headed by David Neville and Marcus Wainwright—is the fashion world equivalent to Emile’s nonchalant fame. They’ve made it big but kept their street cred.
While yet another polar vortex hunkers down over the East Coast, the Rag & Bone campaign, photographed by lensman Glen Luchford, is a reminder that this too shall pass. Set in sunny SoCal and shot in black-and-white on 35mm and 16mm film, the ads have a laid-back, skater vibe—though Wainwright notes the brand wanted to capture the “less shiny side of L.A.” Regardless, it reminds us that soon enough spring, and after that summer, will be upon us. And when the time comes, you’ll know where to pick up some killer clothes.
