Lady Charlotte Wellesley, a descendant of Queen Victoria via her mother, Princess Antonia, Duchess of Wellington, married financier and philanthropist Alejandro Santo Domingo while wearing a structured off-the-shoulder Emilia Wickstead wedding dress and cathedral-length veil embroidered with polka dots Saturday in Íllora, Spain, just north of Granada.
The bride’s long train led to a brief moment of stress when negotiating her exit from the arrival car, but she and her father, the 9th Duke of Wellington—whose ancestor defeated Napoleon at Waterloo in 1815—quickly recovered, making it out unscathed and with her entire look intact. They walked up arm in arm to the Church of the Incarnation in front of cheering onlookers all smiles.
The Duchess of Cornwall Camilla Parker Bowles, wearing tiered cream chiffon; Spain’s former king Juan Carlos I; singer James Blunt, who is married to the bride’s cousin Sofia Wellesley; Czech supermodel Eva Herzigova; and Jemma Kidd, who is married to the Duke’s heir apparent Arthur Wellesley, were just a few of the notables in attendance. The couple exchanged vows in a Catholic ceremony before a reception for over 200 guests at the Duke’s nearby estate.
