We’re in the midst of an incredibly fun and adventurous denim moment, when anything—from shredded to dark-wash, low-slung, or high-waisted, and even patched or bedazzled—goes. For every mood and every day, there is a jean, a jacket, and a skirt or shirt. We want it all, and, as evidenced by the spring 2015 shows, designers really get this concept. See Frida Giannini’s cropped straight-legs at Gucci; Hedi Slimane’s frayed mini at Saint Laurent; and Michael Kors’s clean denim outerwear, for example. It’s been many seasons since we’ve seen denim so diverse—and desirable!—on the runways. Here, spring’s top five denim trends as we see them.
