Honey brown hair was first spotted on models Aline Weber and Sasha Luss, who both traded in platinum dye jobs for uniform washes of the color in anticipation of New York Fashion Week. But if the spring shows in Paris were any indication, the new look of the season has found its wings in subtle ombré streaks. Models, editors, and stylists were spotted with caramel brunette roots that gave way to soft golden tips. And whether painted onto the very ends or running down the mid-lengths of hair, the newest take on the style phenomenon works as well on Anya Ziourova’s razor-edged bob as it does Caroline de Maigret’s choppy long strands or Veronika Heilbrunner’s mid-length waves. As essential for a sunny fall day as a graphic black-and-white coatdress or open-toe Givenchy boots, the new rule of thumb for this ombré seems to be the warmer the shade, the better.
