Finding a holiday party dress is hard enough, but what about one that can go from the office to cocktails without missing a beat? Enter designer Christy Dawn Petersen, who enlisted her friend, actress, and model Emily Ratajkowski to collaborate on a flirty and girly dress for her line, Christy Dawn. The result? A fresh take on the skater dress, in a range of colors, arriving just in time for the season (and for a good cause: Twenty-five percent of the sales go to Planned Parenthood). Last night Ratajkowski showed off a floral version of the festive look.
The flared style of the dress was popularized by Azzedine Alaïa and Alexander McQueen, but Ratajkowski’s version is reworked in crepe for a lighter touch. With a prim square neckline and short, scalloped hem, not to mention the fact that it’s made from vintage fabrics, the dress has a distinct retro twist—an effect amped up by her mod boots. We can easily envision EmRata sporting this piece well after the holiday party season, perhaps even pairing it with skinny jeans and a tunic for off-duty days.
Watch Emily Ratajkowski speak Gaelic, show us around her L.A. loft, and talk presidential ambitions:
