Transitioning from the performance stage to the runway: For some, this may be a bit of a stretch, but for Ciara, one of IMG Models’s newest faces, it feels like a seamless evolution. The Atlanta native has already lent her wildly photogenic mug to such endorsements as Roberto Cavalli’s Fall 2015 campaign. Her limber and willowy frame is ready-made for designer clothing, which she wears just as effortlessly as she executes one of her gravity-defying dance moves. And then, of course, there are the close personal relationships she’s cultivated with designers Riccardo “Uncle Ricky” Tisci, Peter Dundas, and Ralph Lauren. With the chiseled and defined mien of a catwalker and the dynamic agility of a stage performer, Ciara is a largely untapped fashion force—and her just-announced signing to the model agency feels reminiscent of the early ’90s, when celebrity-fueled casting dominated the runways of Jean Paul Gaultier and Thierry Mugler.
Those were the days when powerhouses Madonna and Diana Ross would strut their stuff right alongside supermodels of the day, their larger-than-life personalities adding star power to the runway. While it has yet to be seen if Ciara will make her professional modeling debut on Tisci’s runway (or campaign!), from the incredibly chic turns she’s made over the years, we know she’ll be ready once the moment arrives. Above, see her most model-worthy moments to date.
