cher political tweets

In the heated political landscape of the 2016 presidential election, one person cuts through all of the noise and grandstanding: Cher. The 69-year-old singer and fashion icon has never been shy about speaking her mind, and this election season is no exception. Take, for example, how she reacted to Donald Trump’s announcement that he will be entering the presidential race:

Donald Trump’s ego is So inflated,he might As well be the Hindenburg ! In Dictionary next to “Obnoxious asshole” See Photo of “THE DONALD”

Trump isn’t the only Republican who drives Cher up the wall. She has tweeted several times in the past few months about Rand Paul’s voting record on civil rights issues and has warned her followers about Rick Perry’s position on female health. But Texas Senator Ted Cruz is probably Cher’s least favorite candidate of this election cycle. She frequently has compared him to Joseph McCarthy, called him a “maniac,” and claims that he’s drunk on power. Curiously, Cher has some sympathy for Jeb Bush. Although she tweeted in May that she doesn’t “think much” of Bush, she felt bad about the direction of his campaign:

Jeb Bush Should FIRE EVERY SINGLE IDIOT ON HIS “JEB BUSH FOR PRESIDENT” CAMPAIGN He deserves better, Even though he is a Republican

While her distaste for Republicans seems extremely evident, Cher cannot be confined to the two-party system. In 2012, she corrected someone on Twitter who called her a liberal democrat, explaining that she is a “progressive independent.”

Given her political classification, one might assume her support lies with Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, but it remains unclear, as she has never tweeted about him. She has, however, revealed her dream ticket, and Hillary Clintons on it:

Ok before I go… My DREAM TEAM (Never Gonna Happen) PRESIDENT HILLARY CLINTON VICE PRESIDENT, WILLIAM JEFFERSON CLINTON

While her love of Hillary isn’t usually that straightforward—anyone familiar with her feed knows that’s not her style—but one thing is certain, she definitely feels a connection to HRC:

What IS in a Name Hillary Rodham Hillary Rodham Clinton Hillary Clinton Cher Bono Cher Allman Cher Bono Allman HILLARY….CHER
