While yesterday might have seen A-listers including Victoria Beckham, Anna Kendrick, and Kristen Stewart step onto the red carpet for the opening night of Cannes, today brought out some of Hollywood’s biggest names at the film festival—think, Julia Roberts, Jodie Foster, and George Clooney. It was Mr. Clooney’s date for the evening—his gorgeous human rights attorney wife, Amal—who has made the most glamorous movie star–worthy entrance so far though, in an enchanting, Grecian-inspired Atelier Versace dress.
Of course, Mrs. Clooney is no red carpet novice, in fact, you’d be surprised to hear that this is her first time at Cannes—and what a debut, it was. The cornflower yellow dress featured simple pleat work, an asymmetrical silhouette, and a scene-stealing thigh slit; the overall effect was both alluring and ethereal. Coral earrings from Cartier provided a subdued counterpoint and coordinated nicely with her lip color. With over a week of festivities ahead in Cannes, it might be a little premature to call Clooney’s look the fashion moment of the festival. Still, it’s safe to say, the standard she’s set was trés haute, indeed.
