There was perhaps no one more fitting than Michael Kors to host a celebration of the release of Claiborne Swanson Frank’s stunning new photography book, Young Hollywood. With his close group of starlet friends, the designer’s intimate gathering brought out familiar and new faces, including Hailee Steinfeld, Cody Horn, and Olivia Thirlby—all featured in the new book of portraits by Swanson, and all clad in Kors, of course. “My great love is the study of American culture through large bodies of portrait work,” said Swanson Frank, in an optic-print Kors cocktail dress, of her desire to embark on this latest project. “And what’s more American than Hollywood?”

Isabel Lucas, one of the actresses featured in Young Hollywood, also had nothing but praise for the photographer. “Claiborne was instantly very warm, and we just connected straight away,” she explained. “I never feel that comfortable doing photo shoots, but portraits are quite different. They’re more about being yourself.” As for the creative thought behind the portfolio, Swanson Frank put it simply: “I really looked back to the past for inspiration.” This, in many ways, was the theme of the evening, one that harkened back to the glamour of Old Hollywood while bringing a fresh perspective on promising new talent.
